Mission
Mission statement
AGRISOL’s mission is to accelerate the sustainable market uptake of agrivoltaics across Europe by supporting farmers, market actors, and policymakers in overcoming regulatory, technical, financial, and societal barriers to adoption.
Through evidence-based analysis, stakeholder co-creation, targeted support services, capacity building, and policy action, AGRISOL enables the large-scale integration of solar energy in agriculture.
The challenge
Agrivoltaics: Strong Potential, Limited Uptake So Far
Despite this strong potential, the uptake of agrivoltaics across the EU remains limited. This is largely due to fragmented regulatory frameworks, investment uncertainties, and a lack of technical expertise. In addition, farmers and market actors often face limited access to tailored business models and financial support. Societal concerns and persistent misperceptions around land use and agricultural impacts further slow down adoption.
Why It Matters
Addressing these challenges is essential to unlock the full benefits of agrivoltaics and support a more sustainable and resilient agricultural and energy system in Europe.
AGRISOL Objectives
Four Strategic objectives
AGRISOL pursues four interconnected objectives to unlock agrivoltaics across the EU.
ecosystems mapping
Map the state of play, assess market dynamics, regional specificities, perceptions and framework conditions to identify drivers and barriers for APV uptake in agriculture.
co-creating solutions
Co-create replicable and effective AGRISOL support measures and tools to increase APV market uptake in the agricultural sector.
IMPLEMENTATION IN PILOTS
Deploy the uptake support measures under real market conditions across the five target countries.
results dissemination
Evaluate the results and use the evidence to communicate project outcomes, inform policy, promote mutual learning and support replication across Europe.
AGRISOL TARGETs
Four KEY TARGETs
AGRISOL has identified four key targets that will magnify the project’s impact across Europe.
mARKET READINESS
Support at least 30 PV market actors and farmers to viably adopt APV systems..
SOCIETAL ACCEPTANCE
improve APV acceptance among farmers and citizens by 25% or above.
POLICY Action
Disseminate APV policy recommendations to more than 100 policymakers at national and EU level.
Clean Energy Impact
Unlock 50 MWel of power output from supported cases, saving over 0.5 million tonnes of GHG.
